They that sing as well as they that dance shall say , All my fountains are in thee.
Psalm 87:7
We are very excited to introduce a series of unit studies that detail specific events and eras in the African-American experience. A Historical Walk through the Harlem Renaissance is the first of a series of products that take a meaningful and effective turn from the design of our literature-based history studies. This tool is fabulous for educators who want to spend more time and energy studying the art, literature, and music that defined 1920's America, a time when, as jazz great Duke Ellington said, 'A problem [became] a chance for you to do your best.' As with all Blessed Heritage products, the staples of this curriculum guide are a Christian worldview and reading quality literature. Yet, this study also incorporates art projects, music appreciation, food and fashion, and even crossword puzzle fun in an effort to help students understand what this era was about, what events led to this period of history, and why it occurred in Harlem, New York.
This unit study is perfect for a notebook, a semester or year-end project aid, or a lapbook on African-Americans in early 20th century America. It is recommended for students in 3rd-8th grades.
